The House of Representatives yesterday passed bill which will preserve the “continuity of residence” of aliens who left the country to fight in Allied armies and now wish to become naturalized citizens.
Aliens must have established permanent residence in this country and have ?esided here continuously for five years to complete naturalization proceedings.
The bill will amend the naturalization act of 1940 to protect the residence of those who left this country to serve in the army of a country which had declared ?ar against a country which was at war with the United States.
The bill applies only to those aliens who return to the United States for permanent residence within one year from the date of its enactment and are legally readmitted as immigrants.
