A contribution from Yehudi Menuhin, noted violin genius, to the Jewish National Welfare Fund of San Francisco was one of the many gifts from prominent artists who joined with the entire Jewish community to raise $400,000 for local needs and for the United Jewish Appeal. May Robson, George O’Brien, Constance Bennett, Raoul Walsh, Marie Dressler, Richard Cortez and other film stars came to San Francisco from Hollywood to participate in the opening of the community’s drive.
