Tremendous expansion of the philanthropic social work sponsored by the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities has been noted in a study just made public by County Judge Algeron I. Nova, chairman of the $500,000 budget campaign now in progress.
“In the Federation’s first year of existence,” the report states, “the United Jewish Aid Societies granted assistance in 414 cases and expended $17,787. During the year just ended, a quarter of a century later, the same organization gave assistance to approximately 25,000 persons, this service representing an expenditure of $588,444.”
