With Israel’s national elections one month away, the Likud and Labor parties have chosen different musical directions for their election jingles.
The Likud opposition selected a slow ballad; for Labor, it was an upbeat anthem.
Both jingles pick up on the key words already adopted by the respective campaigns.
The Labor Party’s jingle promises a “strong Israel with Peres,” a country at the “start of the road” for peace, where “tomorrow begins today.”
Likud’s jingle includes lyrics that promise “peace with security,” brought to the people by “a young leader,” Benjamin Netanyahu.
Recent opinion polls give Prime Minister Shimon Peres a 5 percent lead over Likud leader Netanyahu.
But with some 7 percent of the voting public described as uncommitted, the May 29 vote could still go either way.
