Sol Linowitz, President Carter’s special envoy to the Egyptian-Israeli autonomy talks, arrived in Cairo today for meetings with Egyptian leaders and will go to Israel on Tuesday. He was reported to be carrying messages from Carter and President-elect Reagan to President Anwar Sador and Premier Menachem Begin.
Linowitz declined to disclose details of his mission, his last before the change of administration in Washington. Before deporting from the U.S. he said he would bring back a status report on the autonomy talks for Reagan. The autonomy teams have not met since last May and most observers see no chance of their resumption before the Reagan Administration takes office.
