Claude Lipsky, the central figure in a major financial scandal in France, has abandoned his fight against extradition and will return to France of his own free will. Lipsky, who sought refuge in Israel last Oct., is expected to return to France within the next 48 hours accompanied by a French police official who is coming here to escort him.
Lipsky announced his decision yesterday through his Israeli lawyer, Chaim Shenhav, and has informed his two French attorneys, Johannes Ambre and George Herisse that he will face French justice. In a statement issued through Shenhav today, Lipsky said he reached his decision after careful consideration of his situation which convinced him that he will be cleared of the charges he faces in France.
