Several thousand Lithuanian Jews who were evacuated by Soviet authorities prior to the German invasion of their country, have been settled on farms in Soviet Mongolia and Eastern Siberia, according to reliable information received here.
The evacuation of the Jews in Lithuania was started a week before the actual invasion. Although it is not known what principles governed the Soviet authorities in selecting the evacuees, it has been established that many non-Communists, former traders and religious Jews were among them. The Soviet officials did everything to provide the Jewish refugees with the necessities of life, the report states.
