The Premier of Lithuania today received a Jewish delegation and promised to investigate the possibility of finding some practical solution of the problem of continuing Yiddish book-keeping in banks owned by Jews, which is now forbidden by law.

Prior to their visit to the Premier, the delegation made representations to the Minister of Finance and requested the abolition of the law which calls for all accounts to be conducted in the Lithuanian language, beginning with the first of the year.

The Union of Jewish Peoples Banks prepared a memorandum in which legal and practical arguments for the continuation of book-keeping in Yiddish are set forth, which was presented to the Minister of Finance.
