Local Jewry will be represented in a community service in the First Congregational Church, April 24, to promote better understanding among creeds. The chief address will be delivered by the Rev. Everett R. Clinchy, director of the National conference of Jews and Christians who recently completed a national good-will tour with Rabbi Lazaron and Father Ross.
At the local service, addresses also will be delivered by Dr. Maurice Thorner, rabbi of Temple Beth-El here and Judge Robert Kinkead, representing the Catholic point of view. Songs to be sung will include “The Star Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Those who attend will be requested voluntarily to sign the following pledge:
“I intend to do unto others, of whatever race or creed, as I would have them do to me.
“It is my purpose to respect the rights of human beings, and to judge each fellow-man on his individual merits alone.
“I will oppose every organized effort to evoke fear or hatred of any religious racial group.”
