Residents of the waterfront suburb of Shorehaven have applied for an injunction to bar the Norwalk Jewish Center from establishing recreational facilities at the recently acquired center building, a large mansion.
The center plans to convert the mansion into a meeting place and club house, with the addition of a large parking field, baseball field and tennis court. It proposes to enclose for winter use an outdoor swimming pool which is now on the estate.
The Shorehaven Association, which applied for the injunction, alleges that the center will create traffic hazards and depreciate the value of property in the neighborhood. A hearing on the injunction plea will take place in the Court of Common Pleas next week.
