About 1500 employes of the Civil Aviation Authority staged a work slowdown today which delayed outgoing and incoming flights at Lod Airport by an average of two hours and created congestion and confusion among passengers. The delays were a deliberate measure taken by the CAA employes to support their demands for a wage scale equal to that paid by El Al. Israel’s national airline. A spokesman for the employes said that more serious action would be taken if their demands are not met within four days. The matter is expected to be taken up at the next Cabinet meeting.
