The willingness of the London County Council to facilitate teaching of Hebrew is a measure of the difference between this and other countries, Leon Simon, the Hebrew scholar, declared last night, presiding at the presentation of prizes to the County Council’s Hebrew classes. The liberal educational policy of the council is only one example of the spirit permeating British life, he said. Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson, Member of Parliament, paid tribute to Jewish culture as the basis of all religious arts.
