A SUGGESTION BY GEO FREY MANDER, LIBERAL M.P., THAT THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS MANDATE FOR PALESTINE BE TURNED OVER TO THE UNITED STATES, WAS NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY IN INFORMED CIRCLES HERE TODAY.

IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT THE LEAGUE IS NOT LIKELY TO TURN OVER A MANDATE TO A NON-MEMBER, NOR WOULD THE UNITED STATES BE INCLINED TO ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY. FURTHERMORE, IT WAS SAID, SUCH A MOVE WOULD CONTRIBUTE NOTHING TOWARD SETTLING THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE JEWS AND ARABS IN PALESTINE.

MR. MANDER HAD GIVEN WRITTEN NOTICE, AFTER THE HOUSE OF COMMONS SIDETRACKED THE PROPOSAL TO PARTITION PALESTINE LAST NIGHT, THAT HE WOULD QUESTION THE GOVERNMENT TUESDAY ON HIS SUGGESTION.
