The Times, which frequently carries officially-inspired editorials, declares today in a long leading editorial that Arab leaders in Palestine will be unable to force the British Government to stop Jewish immigration by carrying out their general strike.
Referring to anxiety on the part of Jews lest the Government accede to Arab demands, the editorial states that now when many international promises are being broken and the Jews are being driven from one country is hardly a time for the British Government to allow any doubt of its determination to carry out the promises it made in 1917 to facilitate Jewish settlement.
