The Times today urged unification of Syria and Palestine, and declared the Jewish national home ideal had not been abandoned by British statesmanship.
The paper assured “Jewish Zionism and its friends” that “the Jewish national home ideal, which has not been abandoned by British statesmanship, will find its best and surest fruition against the background of a free, self-reliant, comprehensive Arab federation.”
The identity of British and Free French outlooks on the problem was stressed in the editorial, which demanded a “comprehensive settlement.”
