Police were searching for vandals who broke into Temple Tifereth Israel here over the week-end, defaced its walls and did other damage estimated at $10,000. According to Rabbi David Blumenfeld, fire extinguisher fluid was sprayed on Torah scrolls and walls and furniture were scrawled with obscene slogans, religious slurs, swastikas and peace symbols. He said the daubing was done with ink taken from the Temple’s mimeograph machine.
