The Earl of Balfour, author of the Balfour Declartion recognizing the historic claim of the Jewish people to Palestine and establishing the formula of the Jewish National Home there, is retiring from public life at the age of eighty-one.

As decision of Lord Balfour to sell his town house, No. 4, Carlton Gardens, where he has lived for 58 years, and retire to his country residence at Whitingham is regarded by the London press as an official declaration of his withdrawal from public life. It is believed that he will even retire from the Lord Presidency of the Privy Council.
