Kaddish Luz, Speaker of Israel’s Parliament, eulogized the late Viscount Herbert Samuel, Britain’s First High Commissioner for Palestine, at the opening session of the Knesset today.
President Ben-Zvi, in a cable of condolence to the family of the British leader, who died Tuesday at the age of 92, said his “life, activity and devotion will forever be inscribed in the memory of the “Jewish people.” The message emphasized Lord Samuel’s “indefatigable service in behalf of Jewry, his contributions to human progress and his brilliant achievements in the fields of political and social science.”
