The appointment of Lord Moyne, former Colonial Secretary, to succeed Richard G. Casey as British Resident Minister in the Middle East was announced in Cairo today. Falastin, a leading Arab newspaper in Palestine, welcomed Lord Moyne’s appointment, stating: “Lord Moyne was the man who understood Arab aspirations when he was Colonial Secretary in 1941-42. He was able to bring about Arab-British rapprochement.”
