A resolution denouncing the oppression of Jewish religion and culture in the Soviet Union was adopted by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
The supervisors also approved a resolution supporting a campaign by the Jewish Labor Committee and the Workmen’s Circle to collect signatures on petitions throughout California of protest. The petitions are to be submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Commission. The petitions ask the UN to intervene with the Soviet Government on behalf of the 3,000,000 Jews of Russia. The resolution also endorsed a protest month in California.
The board’s resolution also cited the Soviet policy of the Government-controlled press in conducting propaganda campaigns to stimulate anti-Semitic feeling among Soviet citizens.
