Funeral services were held here for Louis Gelber, a prominent member of the Canadian Jewish community for many decades, whose death came four weeks after Toronto Jewry had celebrated his 90th birthday. He was the father of Lionel Gelber, the author and historian; Marvin, a member of the Canadian delegation to the United Nations; Arthur, former president of the Arts Council, Dr. Sholome Michael, a lecturer in religion at New York University, and Sylvia, a senior civil servant in Ottawa. A native of Austria, he settled in Canada in 1896.
