Louis M. Cole, Los Angeles representative of the American Jewish Committee, ex-president of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and during the War, United States Food Administrator for Southern California, is dead here at the age of 60. As president of the Royal Packing Company, he was active in the development of the canning industry in this state.
Mr. Cole was active in Jewish and civic affairs, having been vice-chairman of the Republican state central committee, a presidential elector in 1924 and a member of the Los Angeles City Civil Service Commission. He was a past president of the Nathan Straus Palestine Society, a director of the Federation of Jewish Welfare Organizations, a member of the advisory board of the Jewish Welfare Fund and chairman of the Los Angeles drive for the Joint Distribution Committee from 1920 to 1926. He was a brother-in-law of Marco H. and Irving H. Hellman, prominent bankers.
