Louis Nizer, the author and lawyer who Wednesday night received the Jewish National Fund’s annual Maccabean Award, declared that he had never been bothered by the problem of dual loyalty. Addressing some 750 persons at the Waldorf Astoria where the JNF held its annual award’s dinner, Nizer said the agreed with the late Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis that to be a good American one must also be a good Jew. Nizer said he never felt any conflict between his devotion to the United States and to the State of Israel. Meyer Pesin, JNF president, who presented Nizer with the award, announced that the JNF is also establishing the Louis and Mildred Nizer Forest in the John F. Kennedy Peace Forest outside Jerusalem. Jack Valenti, president of the Motion Picture Association of America, also lauded Nizer. Otto Preminger, the movie producer, who was honorary chairman of the dinner event, was presented with the JNF’s 70th anniversary medal.
