The Louis Segal Cultural Foundation, established by the Farban Labor Zionist Order, today announced awards of three annual prizes for the best essays on Jewish events during the year written by students of the Jewish Teachers Seminary, the Herzliah Hebrew High School, both of New York, and the Institute for Jewish Studies of Chicago.
The first awards will be given for essays on 300 years of Jewish settlement in the United States. The value of the cash prizes was not announced. The Foundation will also publish every year a tri-lingual volume in English. Yiddish and Hebrew–of the best essays of Jewish students on the most important developments in Jewish life during the year.
