Louis Wiley, business manager of the “New York Times,” was the guest of honor at a dinner given by the Chairman of the “Daily Chronicle” newspaper group.
Among those who attended were United States Ambassador Dawes, Lord Birkenhead, J. H. Thomas, Lord of the Privy Seal, Sir Joseph Duveen, T. P. O’Connor, and the editor of the “Express,” Blumenfeld.
William Morris, president of the Jewish Theatrical League of America, has been appointed managing director of the new $750,000 National Variety Artists’ Saranac Sanitarium at Saranac Lake, Eddie Cantor, president of the N. V. A., announced.
“In making this appointment,” said Mr. Cantor, “the officers and directors of the N. V. A. are motivated by the fact that, from the humanitarian point of view, William Morris is the biggest man in the show business.” The new sanitarium will be completed early in September.
