A Berlin rabbi advised the Jews of Germany today to "love thy neighbor as thyself," even if the love is not reciprocated.
Addressing 2,000 Jewish ex-service men at synagogue services commemorating 12,000 war dead, Rabbi Vanderzyl added the comment: "Instead of being German Jews, we are now Jews in Germany."
The services, attended also by the mothers, widows and orphans of the fallen soldiers, were organized throughout Germany by the Federal Union of Jewish War Veterans. A minute’s silence was observed by Jews all over the Reich.
