More than 1,000 delegates from the United States, Israel and other parts of the world took part in the annual convention this weekend of the Lubavitch Youth Organization, which was held at the Lubavitch headquarters here. Mayor John V. Lindsay, addressing the convention, expressed admiration for the work of the Lubavitch movement, which he described as a “most vibrant and dynamic force in world Judaism.”
Other speakers at the convention included Prof. Harold Nierenberg, of Long Island University, who reported on the work of the organization’s College and University Council which he serves as chairman; Rabbi M.A. Hodakov, first secretary of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe; Rabbi David Raskin, executive director of the organization; Rabbi Benjamin Gorodetzky, chief emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to Israel, Europe and North Africa; Rabbi Israel Lebov, director of the Israel branch of the Lubavitch youth group; Rabbi David Chanzin, of Petach Tikva; and Rabbi Nachman Sudak, director of Lubavitcher affairs in England.
Among those participating in the convention were delegates from Israel, Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy and major American cities including New York, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington.
