Rabbi Shmuel M. Butman, director of the college and university section of the Lubavitcher Youth Organization, was scheduled to leave for Europe and Israel tonight on a special mission to strengthen the relations between the youth organization in the United States and Israel.
Rabbi Butman said he would also be seeking to intensify the Lubavitcher Rabbi’s five-point “Mitzyah Campaign” to have all Jews put on tefilim, have mezzuzot and prayer books in their houses, give charity and study the Torah daily. He said he would also be seeking to buy mezzuzot in Israel because of the shortage of ritually acceptable mezzuzot in the United States. He said the Increased demand for mezzuzot is due to the success of the Mitzvah Campaign.
