The Lublin Jewish community will erect a memorial to the 46,000 Jews of that city who were murdered by the Nazis, it was reported here today in the Folkstimme, a Warsaw Yiddish paper. A special committee to carry out the project has been formed by the Lublin office of the Cultural and Social Union of the Jews in Poland, with the cooperation of the Union of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy.
The project was warmly welcomed by the State committee and other State organizations in Lublin, which have already allocated a large sum of money for the purpose and which have provided a site for the memorial in front of the Lublin Castle, where the ghetto was situated.
