A Socialist deputy’s demand in the Chamber of Representatives that shechita, Jewish ritual method of slaughtering animals, be prohibited in the Duchy of Lusemburg, was flatly rejected yesterday by Minister of State Joseph Bech.

Premier Bech, leader of the Catholic Party, declared that the Duchy’s principles of religious tolerance forbid such a measure.
