Leaders and representatives of national Jewish organizations interested in promoting Hebrew language and literature in American, today honored Menachem Ribalow, editor of the Hadoar, only Hebrew weekly magazine in the United States, on the occasion of the thirteenth anniversary of his literary activities. A special issue of Hadoar with articles on Mr. Ribalow by about forty writers was published to mark the occasion.
Speakers at the gathering, which took place at the Times Hall, included Dr. Israel Goldstein, on behalf of the Zionist Organization of American; Dr. Stephen S. Wise, on behalf of the American Jewish Congress; Dr. Israel H. Levinthal, on behalf of the Hadoar Committee; Rabbi Samuel K. Mirsky, on behalf of the Histadruth Ivrith; Dr. Nissan Touroff, on behalf of the Hadoar writers; Dr. A. M. Dushkin, on behalf of the Hebrew Youth Commission and the Hebrew Arts Committee; S. Niger on behalf of the Louis LaMed Fund; and Moses Feinstein, on behalf of the Hebrew Pen Club. Dr. Israel Efros, president of the Histadruth Ivrith, was chairman.
