The scheduled events in the Maccabean Winter Sports Festival at Zakapone have been postponed until Wednesday owing to the unfavorable weather conditions.
As the contests stand Polish Jewish athletes hold first place having won 131 points; Czechoslovakia 32; Austria 14; and Roumania 8.
At a press conference here yesterday, the Maccabean press representative, Rusecki, thanked the Polish Government for its courtesy in issuing free visas to visitors from foreign countries, who came to witness the events.
The Polish government also consented to admit a group of athletes from Lithuania, with whom it is on strained relations, but the Lithuanian government declines to raise its ban on Lithuanian subjects travelling to Poland. He also emphasized the favorable attitude displayed by all countries with the exception of Hungary, which prevented Hungarian Jews from taking part in the events.
Only one event disturbed the program at Zakapone and that was the action of the local authorities in permitting skiiers to enter the municipal ski grounds where the skiing contest was scheduled. This action was condemned by the representative of the Polish Foreign Office who is attending the Festival.
