Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald, who has been defending the new British policy on Palestine before the Permanent Mandates Commission, indicated today that he may make a special broadcast on the subject to the United States through the facilities of the National Broadcasting Company.
(The international division of the N.B.C. confirmed the broadcast arrangements, announcing that Mr. MacDonald will speak Tuesday evening between 5.30 and 5.45 EDST. The broadcast will be carried over the company’s blue network.)
Mr. MacDonald told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that he was flying to Paris tomorrow for a luncheon engagement with French Colonial Secretary Georges Mandel. He said he would return to Geneva on Tuesday if the Mandates Commission required his presence.
It was learned, meanwhile, that the Commission has completed its questioning of Mr. MacDonald. The British spokesman was again closely questioned on the White Paper during sessions yesterday morning and afternoon. The Commission’s conclusions, it was learned, will not be published before September, although they will be formulated before the end of the month.
