Madam Manya Wilbushewitz, better known as Madam Shochat, an active worker in Jewish Palestinian labor organization, Achduth Haavodah, was arrested here in connection with the De Haan murder. At police headquarters it was stated that the arrest was the result of a statement she made in connection with the murder and it was assumed that she is in a position to relate further details of the mysterious situation surrounding the murder of Israel De Haan. The police also searched her house and seized her private correspondence.
The arrest of Madam Shochat caused astonishment in Jewish circles as it is known that she was not in Jerusalem on the day the murder occurred.
Dr. Magnus who assumed defense of the arrested labor leader demanded dismissal of the charge because of lack of evidence. Madam Shochat was released on bail.
