Madonna was included in the annual list of the most influential Jews in America published by the Forward. “This year’s Forward 50 actually contains 51 entries, to make room for someone who is not Jewish but might well be the world’s most famous practitioner of Judaism — the pop singer Madonna. To include her on a list of prominent Jews would have been false, but to leave her off would have been no less misleading,” the national Jewish weekly wrote. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg topped the list.
