The situation of the National Minorities in those European countries where their rights were guaranteed in the International Treaties following the World War will be considered in the open session of the International Conference of the League of Nations Societies Union meeting here.
A set of resolutions dealing with this problem is now being prepared by the Committee on National Minorities, headed by Sir Willoughby Dickinson. In the plenary session, the question of the Staatenlose was taken up. Dr. Leo Motzkin, one of the Jewish delegates, addressed the conference on the subject and pointed out that although the number of the Staatenlose has decreased, the position of those who still remain in that status has become worse. This is in particular true of the great number of Jews in Eastern Europe who find themselves in this category as a result of the geographical changes. He urged the conference to demand that the League of Nations Secretariat give the question greater consideration.
