Major General Sir George Fletcher MacMunn, at present British Quartermaster General of India, will become High Commissioner of Palestine after the retirement of Sir Herbert Samuel, according to information published today by the Hebrew daily paper, “Doar Ha’yom”. The post of chief civil secretary of the Palestine Government will be occupied by Ronald Storrs, at present Governor of Jerusalem, according to the same source of information.
Major General Sir George Fletcher MacMunn, the eldest son of J. A. MacMunn, M. D., was born in Chelsea in 1869. He has a distinguished military career in the service of the British Empire in India, South Africa and during the World War, where he received highest honors. He was wounded twice. He was commander in Chief of the British army in Mesopotamia 1919-1920. He is at present Quartermaster General of India.
