Major Jewish organizations in France will meet this week with Jewish students and other youths to consider important changes which the protesting youngsters claim must be brought about, sources here reported today. The organization are the Jewish Consistory, central religious organization in Paris, and the Fonds Social Juif Unifie, French Jewry’s central fund-raising body. Both headquarters were occupied by demonstrating Jewish youth last week.
Grand Rabbi Jacob Kaplan today deplored “all the acts of violence” which have victimized the French people in the past two weeks. He said he is in “partnership with those who are making claims for the remedying of social injustices.” Rabbi Kaplan asked the French managerial class to “express their national and human solidarity with the underprivileged social classes.”
