Jacob Blaustein, chairman of the Budget Research Committee of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, reiterated today that a majority of the members of that committee favor the National Advisory Budgeting plan which is being submitted to the member communities of the Council.
In a statement commenting on the question raised several days ago by the group opposing national budgeting, Mr. Blaustein declared:
“It is apparent that the opposition committee has misread or misinterpreted both as to content and record of votes an interim report which was presented in February to the board of the Council for its consideration. Only five members of the Budget Research Committee of fourteen were definitely opposed to the principle of advisory budgeting at that time and since then one of these five has declared himself in favor of the proposal. Moreover, a more recent vote in June reaffirms the fact that a majority of the members of the Budget Research Committee is in favor of the National Advisory Budgeting proposal which is being submitted to the member communities of the Council.”
