The Mandates Commission of the League of Nations formally submitted its report on Palestine today to the Council of the League at its opening session.
The report was presented by the Czechoslovakian Foreign Minister Benes who is acting as Rapporteur on Palestine questions.
The report of the Mandates Commission, which was officially released for publication today, fully confirms earlier details regarding its contents as reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
There is no specific mention, as such, of the projected Legislative Council, which the Palestine High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, announced in his report to the Mandates Commission.
The report was adopted by the Council of the League.
Minister Benes declared that the Mandates Commission notes that the preparatory study of the program of constructive policy has not as yet been completed wholly by Great Britain. For this reason, the Commission thinks it premature to express an opinion concerning the Mandatory’s development policy.
At the same time the Mandates Commission notes that 1932 has been a period of calm and prosperity in Palestine. The Mandates Commission wishes to take advantage of this further opportunity to express the hope that the Mandatory’s efforts to solve the problems peculiar to Palestine will be successful, Dr. Benes said.
