To Curtail Growing Influence of Mandatory Powers (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The relation between the mandated territories and the mandatory powers with a view to preventing the annexation of these territories, will be a subject of discussion at the next international meeting of the Interparliamentary Union.
The question is on the agenda of the next session of the Interparliamentary Union. At the last conference of the Union held in Paris, the German representative, Schnee, submitted a report on the mandates question pointing to the necessity of preventing the mandated territories from falling gradually under the sovereignty of the mandatory power. As a remedy he suggested the strengthening of the control of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations. The report will be considered in detail by the Union which, it was stated, is preparing a comprehensive plan on this subject.
