Julius Maniu, president of the National Peasant Party and former premier of Rumania, arrived today at Klausenburg, Transylvania, personally to counteract the anti-Jewish propaganda which is being spread from that city by Dr. Vaida-Voevod, the ex-premier who has been removed from leadership in the National Peasant Party for his campaign to introduce anti-Jewish restrictions here.
In expectation of Maniu’s arrival, followers of Vaida-Voevod captured the headquarters of the National Peasant Party in Klausenburg in order to prevent their opponents in the party from seizing control of the offices of the party in Transylvania.
M. Molodovanu, editor of a paper siding with Dr. Vaida-Voevod, was severly injured during riots which took place Friday evening in connection with the expected arrival of Maniu. The riots were organized by the followers of Dr. Vaida-Voevod, who has made Klausenburg his stronghold. More than twenty persons were arrested.
