Juliu Maniu, head of the National Peasant Party, and former Prime Minister of Roumania, has been invited to form a new ministry to replace the cabinet of Dr. Alexander Vaida Voevod.
The National Peasant Party won a victory at the polls in the recent parliamentary elections. M. Maniu has declined to accept the King’s invitation, because, it is said, he does not wish his party to assume the burden during a financial crisis, when it will be compelled to assume responsibility for the mistakes of previous governments.
The Maniu government, during its regime, on repeated occasions, emphasized that it was desirous of granting equal rights and opportunities to the Jews.
