Martin Indyk was sworn in as U.S. ambassador to Israel. Indyk, who served as ambassador in Israel from 1995 to 1997, has served since then as assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs. Indyk, who flew to Israel over the weekend, is the first Jew to serve as U.S. ambassador to Israel.
