Mary Epstein,one of teh first “grand dames” of the Yddish the atre,died Wednesday everning at her home,517 Ocean View Avenue,Brooklyn.
Mrs.Epstein retired from the stage about ten years ago.Born in Kiev,Russia,sixty-six years ago, she began her career in this country,playing with Boris Thomashefsky,her brother,Jacob P. Adler, David Kessler, Bertha Kalisch and other veterans of the Yiddish theatre She was considered one of the most povable persons on the Yiddish stage,which she served for thirty years.
Mrs. Epstein is survived by two married sons and four grandchildren. FFuneral services are to be held at 10 o’clock this morning from her late residence.
