“Aspersions on the patriotism of American Jewry are wholly without foundation, completely vicious in purpose and thoroughly un-American,” it was declared here in a joint statement issued by State Commanders of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jewish War Veterans of the United States and the Disabled American Veterans.
The statement condemned the circulation of “anti-Semitic doggerel,” pointing out that the distribution of such material is “a vicious threat to our unity which stems directly from Nazi propagandists in this country.” It called on all citizens of Massachusetts to cooperate with the appropriate government agencies in order to end these “nefarious practices.”
