Rabbi Alexander Levine, recording secretary of the Assembly of Hebrew Orthodox Rabbis of America, America, addressing more than 100 rabbis at this morning’s session of the Convention at the Hotel Sharon, declared that inexperience and sophomoric sophistication threatened Jewish tradition.
“Too often we see young inexperienced graduates of seminaries displacing older and wiser men in the pulpits of our synagogues,” he said. “This absurd insistence upon rabbis who should look like matinee idols is frivolous and a serious threat to orthodox Judaism.” The convention closed today.
