The long drawn out issue of the Jerusalem electrification plan, held in check by the dispute between the Greek engineer, Mavromatis, and the British Government, will soon reach a climax, according to a report of the “Davar,” Hebrew labor daily.
According to the report, the Colonial Office has granted engineer Mavromatis a respite until the end of 1928. Following the expiration of this term, the concession granted to Mavromatis by the Turkish Government will be declared invalid if operations have not been started. A report is current that Mavromatis intends to sell the concession to the Sir John Jackson Company, Ltd. of London. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns, however, that Mavromatis is expected to arrive in Jerusalem in April to start negotiations with engineer Pinchas Rutenberg of the Palestine Electric Corporation, with a view to selling the concession to him.
