Max Adler, prominent Chicago philanthropist and former top official of Sears, Roebuck and Company, died at Beverly Hills yesterday. He was 86 years old.
Mr. Adler was active in Jewish affairs in Chicago, gave large sums to Jewish charities in that city, and was responsible for the construction of the first planetarium in the U.S., situated in Chicago and named in his honor. Mr. Adler was a brother-in-law of the late philanthropist Julius Rosenwald.
