Max Liebermann, internationally famed Jewish artist and former president of the Prussian Academy of Art will mark his eighty-fifth birthday on July 20th.
Commenting on the occasion, the C.-V. Zeitung, organ of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, says that July 20th will be a day of honor for international art.
Mr. Liebermann resigned from the presidency of the Prussian Academy of Art on May 31st, after holding the office for sixteen years. Advanced age was the official reason given for the resignation. Scepticism was expressed however and the resignation was regarded as mysterious inasmuch as Mr. Liebermann had been elected president of the Academy for life.
